During one of my walks I found an alpaca farm. At first, I didn’t believe my eyes. Really, alpacas? In Edinburgh? But there they were, gorgeous animals, enjoying themselves at BobCat Alpacas.
Several months have passed before I found the courage to message the farm owners and ask them if they would be interested in a photoshoot. To my excitement, Bob and Cath have kindly agreed to it and so I started to plan the shoot. I knew that working with animals isn’t easy so I needed someone I could trust, someone I had worked with before. I immediately thought of Anne since she’s very experienced and she looooves alpacas. But I also wanted to shoot some children because I wanted to see the contrast and also because I love working with kids/teenagers and I really miss doing it. Mya and Kaitlyn Mcdonald came to my mind, I could imagine them with alpacas very easily. Plus there is something about those twins which just makes me feels very good, they have a very positive energy and I just love being around them. I chose the outfits, sorted out the date, picked the spot at the location; and one chilly morning we all met at BobCat Alpacas.
Here’s a little backstage video that I edited from Anne’s camera and mine.
In the evening before the shoot I had one of those sad moments when you really miss your country. I was truly missing Russia, especially in the environment of a very strong anti-russian propaganda. I was looking at the pictures I took in the Russian north and I was missing snow; I’ve never thought I would miss snow! I felt really sad.
So when it started snowing during the shoot I was blown away. I took it as a good sign from the Universe. My eyes filled with tears but luckily I could hide behind my camera. It was snowing for just 5 minutes but I was there to catch it. In a beautiful location with beautiful girls and gorgeous alpacas.
This shoot has a special place in my heart. I’m very thankful to BobCat Alpacas for making it all happen. You can meet the alpacas too and even walk with them, just visit their site for more information! This is an incredible experience and definitely one of the best days in my life.
