Do you want to hear the chain of events that led me to this photoshoot? I was once a huge fan of Lara Fabian and kept in touch with other fans. And among those fans there was a girl from a siberian town Tomsk. Years have passed, we have grown up and suddenly one day the girl wrote to me: “Why don’t you come and visit me in Tomsk? We will finally meet!” And I thought to myself “yeah, why not?”
And so I got the flight tickets and flew to Siberia for the first time in my life. I had big plans for taking pictures of local people. 7 days. 7 amazing photoshoots. This is one of them.
Arina has conquered me at first sight. We started off in a small forest but then I realized that it was not exactly what I wanted to do. And then I saw a river and in that river I saw some small islands with stones. I have no idea what people had left them for but I knew that it was exactly what I needed! Now the question was how to get there. I had the camera (well, that’s obvious if you are taking pics) and I didn’t want to drown it in the dirty water. The stream was quite fast and strong. So Arina and I were holding each other’s hands as we were slowly making our way from the shore to the small islands. My head was almost under the water and I was holding my camera up high with my hands. Finally we reached the stones and the photoshoot began…
One of the most amazing things about travelling and taking pics of the locals is that you have just met the person but you have to discover his/her personality in front of your camera. You hardly know each other but there you are holding hands in a dirty river, all for the love of art.
There is a small backstage video clip after the pictures.
Thank you for watching! I really appreciate any piece of attention!
And this is one of my favorite shots. I call it “Earth smiles with flowers”
P.S. I have mentioned 7 days and 7 photoshoots in Siberia. They all are over this site in different categories, but you can read about some of them in this blog:
